A run of consecutive failed readings. "Observed down" is the span the failed readings cover — a recovery between two readings shortens the true outage by at most one interval. A run that is still open at the newest reading is marked ongoing.

How to read this page

The checks run from several of the fleet's own hosts, each on its own path to the service. That is what makes a single row meaningful: down from one vantage and up from another is a path problem rather than a service problem, and this page shows both readings rather than picking one.

A figure is printed only when the newest reading is fresh. When the probes stop arriving the page says unknown instead of repeating the last verdict, because a confident "100%" computed from old data is worse than no figure at all. The window's history starts when these probes first landed; nothing was carried over from the monitoring this page replaced.

A row is painted only while its series is still reporting. A check the inventory retired keeps its old readings in the window, and the page names it under the table instead of painting it as down: no sample is not a failed sample, and an endpoint nobody probes any more has no verdict to give.
